Quetzacoatl is the Mexican feathered serpent god the Maya call Kukulcan. Revered for his wisdom, gentleness, and patronage of art, literature, agriculture, and science. He was driven out by the war god, Tezcatlipoca, in 987, but said that at a future time he would return and his doctrine would be received again. The Aztecs believed Quetzacoatl created the world and formed the first man with his breath. They built round temples in his honor and called him King of the Wind. This was painted during the Harmonic Convergence in 1987. Some say the date represented the return of Quetzacoatl to the world. |
