Jagannatha is Lord Krsna with a suprised expression on his face. He is the symbol of a religion of compassionate liberation derived from an Aboriginal and Aryan past. A view of God as non-anthropomorphic; within and without; all for one and one for all; egalitarian and non-sectarian; beyond the duality of being and non being. Every year in India there is a Festival of Cars in which huge mobile shrines with painted wooden faces of Jagannatha, his brother, Balarama, and his sister, Subhadra are ridden. |
